Let's be so clear! SO many of the products we have purchased over the years have made false claims, had weird smells or just simply did not work!
I wanted my brand to have trances of BS & weird vibes.
I have a very dry skin type, dry scalp and extremely tight coiled 4C texture. So many products just sit on my hair. Many products have triggered my eczema or just simply didn't help.
I found myself making my own mixes for a while. I found that some essential oils like tea tree, peppermint a few others helped to soothe my sensitive skin and scalp! I wanted to mix something up that would have lasting effects. Something that didn't smell too strong and would not interfere with my fragrances. I was tired of smelling castor oil in my pillows and hats. YOU KNOW THAT STUFF IS THICK AND IT STINKS!
I loved the benefits, but it stinks!!!!
When I made my own mixes, I found them to be effective from head to toe and I loved the way they smelled. I decided to bring them to my salon suite and apply some to my client's scalps after their braids were done. I also used them in the prep process before applying makeup.
A few clients followed up! Saying the loved the feel and smell! They wanted to know what I used. It was hard to pinpoint because I was using a lot of different oils. I began to do some research. Finding what's most effective for thick hair like mine, dry skin like mine, eczema prone skin like mine.
I wanted to include ingredients that are easy to understand and worked well together. After settling on my brand name "Blaque Broccoli". I researched ways I could include broccoli into the product. I found out that broccoli seed oil is amazing. It's a softening agent! Lord knows, nothing was able to soften my hair type. It has Erucic Acid which is an Omega 9 fatty acid that helps to give a glossy shine to hair. Broccoli Seed Oil has a light consistency and penetrates into the hair easily, it does not leave the hair greasy. I knew it would be a cool addition to the product!
Along with the 9 other amazing oils my hair was thriving and shining! I went to the beauty supply store and 10 4oz bottles. I poured everything up and priced each for $30. I followed up with the client that asked if I had oils. She came to get some the next day and everything sold out at the salon the same night.
A lightbulb went off and I knew I had something amazing.
My goal with my brand is to help people who have a simple routine. I have expanded from just scalp oils to now soaps, body butters and my best selling facial elixir.
Broccoli seed oil powers all of what I offer! People have been loving the results.
